Abstrak :
The title of this research is "Bentuk dan Modus Slogan Tempat Makan di Purwokerto". The aim of this research are to describe the unit of language and the mode of slogan of restaurants in Purwokerto. The significances of this research are to increase the research in the field of syntax and semantics; and to provide a general understanding to the public about the mode of the slogan of restaurants in Purwokerto.
This is descriptive qualitative research. This research discusses the phenomenon of slogan of restaurants in Purwokerto in terms of syntax and semantics. This research used two methods of data collection. The first was observation method with tapping technique and involved conversation observation technique as basic techniques. The second was conversation method with stimulate techniques as basic technique and direct conversation, recording technique and noting technique as the advance techniques. In analyzing the data, this research used distributional method with immediate constituent as basic technique and for the advance technique used vanished technique, deletion technique, expansion technique, and permutation technique. The researcher also used comparing method with compare distinguish technique to analyze the second research questions.
Based on the data analysis, there were three types of linguistic units: phrases, clauses, and sentences. Linguistics unit that were found: 2 adjective phrases; 2 adjective clauses; 3 noun clauses; and 1 verb clause; 2 imperative sentences; 5 declarative sentences. There were also 4 types of mode of 15 slogans of restaurants that were analyzed. The modes were 2 declarative or indicative modes, 10 optative modes, 2 imperative modes, and 1 desiderative mode.
From the research conducted, it can be concluded that the slogan restaurants in Purwokerto more use declarative sentences or sentence statement. It also tends to reveal slogans written optative mode or hope to entice consumers with simple language.
