The research entitled “The Implementation of Script Play Technique in
Teaching English Speaking Skill. (A Descriptive Study of Script Play Technique on
Grade VIIIE Students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto, School Year
2015/2016)”. The purposes of this research were (1) explaining the implementation
of Script Play Technique in Teaching English Speaking skill, (2) finding out the
result of the English Teacher about the Implementation of Script Play Technique in
Teaching English Speaking Skill, (3) finding out the opinion of students about the
Implementation of Script Play Technique in Teaching English Speaking Skill.
The research used qualitative method. The researcher took the data through
interview, questionnaire and observation. The data was presented through
descriptive explanation. After conducting the research, it was resumed that The
Implementation of Script Play Technique in Teaching English Speaking Skill was
successfully done. Script play technique could help the English teacher to
encouraging the student in speaking skill. From the observation result, the
Implementation of Script Play Technique in Teaching English Speaking Skill
increased the understanding of students how to speak easily by writing the Script
first before performing in front of the class. It helped the students’ confident when
they act out in front of their friends in a class. Moreover, the result of interview and
questionnaire showed that the English teacher and the students were satisfied with
the implementation of script play technique. The questionnaire result showed that
71% of the students enjoyed in following the lesson and most of the students were
active in using Script play technique. The English teacher and the students stated
Script play technique helped them in English speaking skill. This research was
expected to give benefit to the reader especially to the students of English
Department as a reference for them who are interested in conducting the research in
the field of applied linguistics.
