Abstrak :
This study aims to find out the kinds of amplification technique for the
accuracy and acceptability of the translation in the translation novel “A Child
Called 'It'" by Dave Pelzer.
This study used a qualitative research method. Researcher took samples
from the entire novel. Data were analyzed by using the theory of Molina and
Albir’s translation by amplification theory and translation quality assessment
by Nababan, et al. In this study, the researcher classified amplification
techniques that exist in the object of research. In the analysis of the accuracy
and acceptability, the researcher gave questionnaires to the assessors and the
results are based on the scores that have been given.
The results showed that in this study the researcher discovered three
amplification technique, they are 2 data (1,44%) of word into word, word into
phrase as many as 130 data (93,53%), and 7 data (5,03%) of phrase into
phrase. From these finding, the translator translated many word into phrase to
clarify the real situation, so that the reader can read with full appreciation.
The quality of the translation in the novel A Child Called ‘It’ is less accurate
and less acceptable in the source language into target language. The quality of
translation can be seen from the percentage obtained, 6,47% inaccurate,
80,58% less accurate, and 12,95% accurate. 2,87% unacceptable, 85,6% less
acceptable, 11,5% acceptable. Amplification techniques used by the translator
make translation of the text is less accurate, and less acceptable by the reader.
Some additional words or phrases containing the translation becomes less
precise language selection in the addition of the word also makes translation
become less acceptable.
