Language changes over time. The general concern of this research is the changes of language caused by several factors and the main concern of this research is the changes of language caused by social class.
The data of this research were all characters‘ utterances in We‟re The Millers movie as the population. While, the samples were taken from the utterances uttered by the main characters in the movie.
This kind of research was qualitative research. Therefore, this research used descriptive qualitative method. The researcher took some steps in analyzing data. The steps were data reduction, data display, and data summarization.
The result of the data analyis of the language change produced by three main characters mostly was social need (102 data). The second was fashion and random fluctuation (88 data). The last was foreign bodies (2 data). The researcher also found how the change of social class influences the main characters‘ utterances. It happens when they are in different situation. They use bad language and act rudely when they are around members of The Millers. On the other hand, they use good language and act politely when they are around other people.
This research hopefully could be beneficial both academically and non academically. The students, academically, can use this research as references in conducting related further research. While, non academically, this research would be beneficial to the script writers in making movie script.
