Abstrak :
Health is important for every human being, starting from concentration in work
and activities in daily life. Health development concerns all aspects of people's lives
and takes place in every individual, including those who are serving sentences
(inmates) in Correctional Institutions (LAPAS).
This study aims to determine the form of legal protection for convicts in the
accommodation and health sector in Class II A Bekasi prisons and the effectiveness of
implementing legal protection in the accommodation and health sector in Class II A
Bekasi prisons. Sociological juridical approach, descriptive in nature, Research
Location in Class IIA Correctional Institution Bekasi. Primary data collection by
interviews, and secondary data literature study. The data is presented in the form of
descriptions and analyzed qualitatively.
Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded as
follows: Forms of legal protection for convicts in the areas of accommodation and
health in Class II A Bekasi Correctional Institutions, which are carried out by
providing services: Accommodation in the form of bedrooms with a capacity of 682
people, consisting of 96 residential rooms spread over 4 blocks A, B, C, and D, in each
block consisting of 24 rooms equipped with bedding in the form of pillows and mats
as well as a bathroom/W. Health, in the form of several existing health facilities such
as outpatient and observation clinics, emergency rooms, screening laboratories for
Tuberculosis (TBC) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), special referral
health services, and dental health services (tentative) as well as medicines. The
application of legal protection in the areas of accommodation and health in Class II
A Bekasi prisons has not been effective, because there are still several obstacles,
especially in the field of health services, namely: Limited variety of medicines,
especially for degenerative diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. Limited
supporting examination tools and emergency equipment for certain cases.
Administrative constraints, especially for convicts who will be referred to as
hospitalization, there are no guarantees from the family and families who accompany
the Correctional Families. especially for degenerative diseases such as diabetes and
